BLOCKER ACADEMY OF MARTIAL ARTS MISSION STATEMENT
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts is an organization dedicated to the disciplines of combat and martial training, preparing good people for bad street scenarios.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts teaches self-defense, self-preservation, confidence, courage, respect, self-control, integrity, combat skills and battle tactics (Warrior Journey History).
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts' mission is to teach universal principles and concepts found in multiple practical and combative martial arts.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts teaches students multiple ranges of combat through various fighting styles.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts believes that every Martial Art has something good to offer, but no system or style has all the answers. "Everything works some of the time, but nothing works all of the time."
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts encourages students to start training consistently, even if they have no prior experience and minimal fitness ability.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts teaches students to start their training now to learn basic motor skills and muscle memory. Students also must demonstrate respect for teachers, others, and themselves inside and outside of the academy.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts welcomes students of all ages, races, religions, and skin colors, provided they demonstrate good moral character.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts' "Teachings" are based on Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do (JKD) philosophy*, concept, and self defense art.
*The Jeet Kune Do (JKD) philosophy is to combine multiple effective arts to prepare students for real combat and street fighting scenarios. Combat and street fighting scenarios will involve weapons, stand-up fighting, multiple attackers, eye-striking, biting, take-downs, and ground fighting.
"If you're looking for a class to teach you to defend yourself quickly and effectively, this is the one [Blocker Academy of Martial Arts]. I learned more moves and 'hand-to-eye' coordination techniques in one day than I did in 6 months of a Karate class, that I used to attend. Although you can take this class and learn tactics that you can use for the rest of your life, it's up to you to practice what you learned frequently so you don't forget." - Jordan Kilgore, Oregon-USA
BLOCKER ACADEMY OF MARTIAL ARTS VISION STATEMENT
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts has a vision to train thousands of new students in the art of self-preservation by the end of each year to make the community and Turtle Island a better place.
Blocker Academy of Martial Arts has a goal to train and rank twenty quality instructors every 12 months.*
*To accomplish this goal, Blocker Academy of Martial Arts' goal is to add one new affiliate school every year in a different state. Once the affiliate schools are in place with certified instructors, the amount of students and instructors will increase. After there is at least one affiliate school per state, Blocker Academy of Martial Arts will focus on several other countries for expansion.
"Snake Blocker, you changed my mind. Now I always carry a knife or two, and have added a very simple self defense method to our training. Kind of a 'parry and tendon cut' type thing." - Robin Kelley

"Snake Blocker and I have trained together in Southern California and we worked with a number of the same instructors, and even taught some mutual students. Snake is a no-nonsense instructor. We were both very involved in the martial communities of Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's martial arts concepts), Muay Thai (Kickboxing), Weapons, and Shoot Fighting (stand up and ground fighting). Snake has been involved in the martial arts community for many years and continues his training and teaching. His knowledge of weapons is on par with the top in knife play these days.." - Eric Bentzen, CEO Dark Gift Concepts (Jeet Kune Do Concepts Instructor), California-USA
BRUCE LEE’S JEET KUNE DO MARTIAL ART [Self-Defense Methods/Concepts/Styles/Flows]
"Jeet Kune Do can be learned. Jeet Kune Do can be taught, but Jeet Kune Do can not be put into a 'box' for standardization."
Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is a Chinese word that means “The Way of the Intercepting Fist.” Bruce Lee (birth name: Lee Jun Fan) coined this term as an expression of his understanding that an intercepting strike, in the early stage, is more effective than just a simple block; and if one can intercept while a strike is executed at the same time, then one is more efficient in fighting. Sijo (Founder) Bruce Lee used a red & gold Yin Yang symbol as his JKD logo with Chinese writing around the Yin Yang symbol which translates to “Take no way as way; take no limitation as limitation.” This phrase means that one should not take “one way” of doing things in martial arts or life as the “only way” of doing things and don’t limit oneself to “one goal” or “one martial arts.” It also eludes to mean that no martial art has all the answers and “nothing works all of the time, but everything works some of the time.” Bruce Lee was a pioneer of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in the true sense, at a time when instructors didn’t allow students to study any other martial art except the one taught at their kwoon (school), Bruce Lee mandated the exploration of multiple Martial Arts to adapt what was useful and reject what was useless. Bruce Lee formally studied Wing Chun Gung Fu from Yip Man. Wing Chun means “Spring Chant/Eternal Spring” and is a Chinese Gung Fu system (Gung Fu is also pronounced Kung Fu). Wing Chun is a self defense based art that incorporates quick hands and grappling techniques with close range kicks. Bruce Lee studied some European Fencing from his brother, Peter Lee, who was a Fencing Champion. Bruce Lee also studied Wu-Style T’ai Chi Ch’uan (Combat T'ai Chi) from his father Lee Hoi-Chuen. T’ai Chi Ch’uan translates to “Boundless Fist,” and is an internal martial arts focused on balance, flow, meditation and control. Later, Bruce Lee studied several martial arts through books, film, and one-on-one instruction.
Originally, Wing Chun Gung Fu was at the core of Jeet Kune Do, and with modifications, was known as, Jun Fan Gung Fu, but Bruce Lee also incorporate some various techniques from Savate [Sa'vat]/Boxe Française (French Foot-Fighting), Northern Praying Mantis Gung Fu, Southern Praying Mantis Gung Fu, Choy Li Fut Gung Fu, Tai-Chi Chuan (Wu family style) Gung Fu, Hsing-I Gung Fu, Bak-Hoo Pai (White Crane) Gung Fu, Paqua (Paua) Gung Fu, Eagle Claw Gung Fu, Bak-Fu Pai (White Tiger [Claw]) Gung Fu, Bak Pai Gung Fu, Bak Mei Pai (White Eyebrow) Gung Fu, Ng Ga Kuen (Five Family System) Gung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Hung Gar Gung Fu, Western/English Boxing, European Fencing, Western Fencing (Foil), Judo, Western Wrestling, Hapkido, Eskrima (Escrima), Filippino Sikaran, Muay Thai (Thai Boxing [Kickboxing]), Dan Zan Ryu Jujutsu, Northern Sil Lum (Shaolin) Gung Fu, Southern Sil Lum (Shaolin) Gung Fu, Modern Sil Lum (Shaolin) Gung Fu, Dumog, Law Horn Kuen (Golden Buddha Fist) Gung Fu, Chin Na Gung Fu, Monkey Style Gung Fu, and Drunken Style Gung Fu.
Jeet Kune Do is the flowing from one martial arts system to another system, as needed, for self defense.. It originated in 1967 at the Chinatown Los Angeles, California kwoon (school).
JKD emphasizes the use of all “ranges of combat.” Students are taught to confidently “flow” from long distance (kicking-range), to middle distance (empty hand-range), and to close quarters distance (trapping-range), with the possibility for grappling distance (ground-fighting range).
With JKD, the movements are crisp, and efficient, while utilizing the most direct lines and angles. JKD affords the practitioner a means by which to effectively pursue the most direct "line of attack." Once an attack has been launched, there are no breaks or interruptions. As one technique nears completion, it starts to blend into the next and so forth: one continuous flowing motion until the conflict is resolved and the threat is no longer present.
After Bruce Lee’s death, his 1st generation students begin to incorporate influences from Silat (Indonesia & Filipino Martial Arts), Kino Mutai (Filipino Martial Arts using biting techniques), Shoot Fighting (Japanese Kickboxing & Grappling) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (The Gentle Art [of grappling]). The main theme in Jeet Kune Do is to have the core foundation in Gung Fu (Kung Fu), Kickboxing, Ground Fighting, and Weapon’s arts that incorporate simplicity and speed at all "ranges of combat" (kicking, punching, trapping, ground fighting, and weapon’s range).
Bruce Lee personally certified three instructors: Taky Kimura (R.I.P.), James Yimm Lee (R.I.P.), and Dan Inosanto. Taky Kimura (R.I.P.) holds a 7th level instructor rank in Jun Fan Gung Fu. James Yimm Lee (R.I.P.) held a 3rd level rank instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu. Dan Inosanto holds the 3rd level instructor rank directly from Bruce Lee in Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan Gung Fu, and Bruce Lee's Tao of Chinese Gung Fu. Ted Wong (R.I.P.) holds 2nd level instructor rank in Jeet Kune Do certified directly by Bruce Lee and was later promoted also as an Instructor under Dan Inosanto. Other Jeet Kune Do instructors since Lee's death have been certified directly by Dan Inosanto, some with remaining Bruce Lee-signed certificates. James Yimm Lee (R.I.P.) certified a few students including Gary Dill, who studied Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do under James Lee (R.I.P.) and received permission via a personal letter from him in 1972 to pass on his learning of Jun Fan Gung Fu to others. Taky Kimura (RIP) has certified only about a dozen people in Jun Fan Gung Fu, including his son, Andy Kimura. Dan Inosanto continues to teach and certify select students in Jeet Kune Do., as he was the only student to receive the highest rank under the term, Jeet Kune Do. After Bruce Lee's passing, Taky Kimura (RIP) and Dan Inosanto were allowed to teach small classes thereafter, under the guideline "keep the numbers low, but the quality high". Bruce also instructed several World Kickboxing and Karate Champions including Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, and Mike Stone. Between the three of them, during their training with Bruce, they won every karate championship in the United States.

"This [Snake Blocker Apache Falcon] knife is one of my favorites. I’m very protective over it - and if anything ever happened to it, I would be severely depressed. It’s a beast, very well made, and sharp in both appearance and blade. It’s highly recommended by me and my husband (who often tries to steal it!)." - Kimberly "The Bladed Broad" Mitchell, USA
